Caldera's Corner

Unique Critique

Yes, it’s true! This week’s Caldera’s corner is a Unique Critique! For anyone who doesn’t know what this is, basically, I rank the entire roster of GCW. If anyone here is easily offended or cannot take criticism, read no further! Stars are ranked 1 (needs improvement) to 5 (best of the best). Enjoy!

Steven Caldera & Mr. Danger- These guys are the greatest! (Actually, I’m not going to review us…. We’re in charge!)

John Reed- I’ve always liked this guy, but he just doesn’t put forth the effort required to be a top contender. His roleplaying skills are great, but he needs to be more active. ***

Rich Rollins- The world champion. . .What can be said? He’s the best in GCW right now. *****

The Jhub- The Jhub has been putting forth quite an effort, and really wants the top spot bad. He’s come a long way since I first beat him in the first round of the ACWF world title tournament (that I won….. hehe Thanks Danger) He’s still got a ways to go, but he’s up there. ****1/2

Khan- Khan has been my right hand man for a while. In fact, I was planning on having Khan and Rollins lead the main event picture right off the bat…. But both of them left. Khan is still suffering from computer problems, which is lowering his score. Otherwise, he’s be a perfect 5. ***1/2

Toad- I love Toad. Will you marry me? I’m kidding, of course, but Toad is one of my favorites. Mostly because I have seen him grow in character and skill from the beginning. Toad has improved vastly, and is one of the most fun guys I know. ****

Octavian- The first world champion. I like this guy a lot. Sadly, he’ll be leaving us for a while…. But he’s still one of the top guys. Again, the only thing preventing him from being a perfect five is his involvement, but it’s finals time, so cut him some slack. ****1/2

Toxic- Even though he’s gone after the US title twice and failed, he’s still a deserving guy. Toxic is another guy I’ve been with since the beginning, and I like his style and ability, and determination. He’s on a road trip right now, but brought a laptop along just to keep up! ****

Mike Hardy- One of the guys I’ve known the longest, Hardy has been around. He has improved tremendously, and has gone from a nice-guy with little to no character to a very real, believeable Hardy. I feel bad that he’s gotten the shaft so much so far, but he’s hanging in there. Thanks, Mike! ***1/2

Chameleon- Another guy who’s character I’ve seen develop. He’s changed a bit, but his roleplaying skills have improved drastically. His determination has been his strong suit. ***3/4

Luke Hanson- This guy applied to the new GCW, and has stuck with us since. While I can’t say he’s improved much, if at all, I can say that he makes up for it by he fact that he didn’t need to in the first place. Hanson is a great US champ, and it was no small feat beating Toxic. ****1/2

Zippy- Up until recently, Zippy has been roleplaying quite a bit. This ranking is really for the entire ZIP crew, who has continually entertained me since they arrived. Their sense of humor has really been their greatest asset. The lower ranking is only due to lack of roleplays. ***

Capo- Another guy who showed up at the opening of GCW. For a while I thought hed left, but he stuck around. At first, I didn’t think much of him….. But at some point, he improved drastically, and won the TV title. Gotta love that. ***3/4

A1& Mikado- These guys have an interesting gimmick, and great roleplaying skills. They took the tag titles from the Hustlers, and have really impressed me. I hope these guys are still around. . . another low ranking from poor activity. **1/2

Chris Jordan- Run by the same guy as Toxic, I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical of letting him in in the first place. But I’m glad I did. Jordan’s character is starting to blossom now that he’s away from the Establishment. ***3/4

Shane Lane- I’ll bet a lot of you want to read this one. Shane Lane is a great roleplayer, and I like him. His ego kinda gets in the way of otherwise strong competition to Hanson’s belt. ****

Dan Rivero & Rage- Same guys. I think they both have a lot of potential, and are skilled roleplayers. Given time, and a little added depth to the characters (I need to give them more TV time) They can go places. ***

Khris Krowe- I know why he hasn’t been around, and though he looks great, I really won’t assign him a star rating…. I wouldn’t be able to give him many, and I think he deserves more.

Jake Jennings- An interesting character with a new approach I think. Given time and more attention, Jennings can go a ways. ***

Mr. Dream- What I’ve seen of him is good…. But I haven’t seen much of him. **

Jimmy Taylor- I like this guy, and think he can go places, again, given time. ***3/4

Well, there you have it, folks. I'll be doing this regularly now, so look for it!
