Toad Talk

Hey Toad fans, your pal James Budd here coming to you not at all live in merry old England. Well I had an idea for this column, Caldera liked it and I was stuck with writing the first one. Well cheers boss! But seriously, im going to write about a topic that's been troubling me for sometime now, as my good pal Luke Hanson can testify to. Im going to wax lyrical about sportsmanship in the game we call e-wrestling. Now what really bugs me in the GCW is when someone joins up, gets a match, roleplays once, loses and then quits the federation. More often than not they just drop off the face of the earth without telling anyone where they've gone. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with people quitting, but when its because they've lost there first match, now that bugs me! You see, I don't really understand the logic behind it at all. You cant expect to win everything, in fact it would be pretty boring if you did. The fun for me in e-wrestling isn't the winning or the titles or anything like that. It's the storylines, the feuds and friendships that your character gets mixed up in and the situations they have to contend with. If me losing makes the storyline even better them im all for it! You may be thinking that I don't really know what im talking about seeing as im in the top ranks of this federation and that im in contention for several titles, but it wasn't always like that! I first started e-wrestling in the Caldera era of the CWU. Now I lost my first four or five matches, some of them quite badly. Did this mean that Caldera didn't like me? That he thought my roleplaying was crap? I don't think so. I was just a newcomer to the fed, so until I established myself there was no way I was going to beat the big boys. You see, that's what you got to do. You've got to take these early defeats as a learning experience. Ask yourself why you lost. Have you bitten off more than you can chew? Was it for the storyline? Stick at it! Eventually you'll start winning, and be having a whale of aÏtime. Think about it like this. If everyone quit when they lost then eventually there would only be one guy in the fed, and where's the fun in that? I just don't see why people waste there time joining a fed just to act like a baby when they lose. Such people are in my opinion morons. I just hope that we can see the end of such behaviour in the GCW but I doubt it very much. Im not knocking the new guys, I for one think they're important to the long term success of this fed but forÏevery new wrestler who joins and is a success it seems to me that theres about five who act like idiots and bugger off very quickly. Well that's my rant over and done with. Some of you may disagree with what I've said. Most of you will of course, because I am obviously right! But now I've got started speaking my mind, you can gurantee you won't be hearing the last from me. Unless that damn panda gets me first. So until next time Toad fans, adios!
